The Mercer Island girls golf team claimed the top spot at the 2A/3A KingCo medalist tournament Monday at Snohomish Golf Course.

The Islanders won with a team score of 419. Interlake was second at 436 and Bellevue rounded out the top three with a score of 445.

Mercer Island boasted the meet’s top three individual scores, with five of the Islanders’ six golfers moving on to the district round. Kate Peterson took home medalist honors with a day-low score of 80 strokes. Abby Zhong was second at 81 and Estey Chen was third, finishing the course with 83 strokes.

Also placing in the top 11 to advance to next week’s district meet were Ella Warburg, who tied for seventh shooting an 87, and Madelyn Quickstad, who shot an 88 to place ninth. Freshman Nicole Mandt also competed for the Islanders at Monday’s meet.

The 3A SeaKing district golf tournament will take place Monday, May 16 at Riverbend Golf Course in Kent.

Islanders earn all-league honors

Four Mercer Island golfers earned KingCo 2A/3A all-league honors this season. Ella Warburg and Estey Chen were named to the All-KingCo first team, while Kate Peterson and Abby Zhong were named to the second team.
