After a season which took them all the way to the state semifinals, the Mercer Island girls lacrosse team lost on Tuesday night to Brainbridge, ending their run to the state title.

After a season which took them all the way to the state semifinals, the Mercer Island girls lacrosse team lost on Tuesday night to Brainbridge, ending their run to the state title.

The Islanders traveled to the defending state champions, falling 24-18.

Bainbridge was ahead 13-11 at halftime, with the Spartans adding another 11 points in the second half while holding Mercer Island to just seven additional points.

Mercer Island’s Elena Skouras had five goals during the game, with three draw controls, while Madison Blackburn added three goals and three draw controls. Dulce Moll scored three goals, as did Saffron Snethen, and Taylor Dahlgren. Tyler Sherper had two goals and two assists, while Hannah Paborski had two goals. Goalie Erika Eagan made 10 saves during the loss.

The team will play Lakeside on Saturday, May 19 to determine third/fourth place in this years tournament. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish.

The Islanders were 11-3-1 this season.
