Mercer Island High School’s boys basketball team advanced to the 3A District 2 tournament with a 71-60 overtime victory over Lake Washington in the KingCo tourney on Feb. 8.

The Islanders finished third at KingCo, and districts will occur Feb. 11-18 at Bellevue College and LW.

On the girls’ side, the Islanders lost to Hazen, 56-34, at KingCo on Feb. 8 and ended their season.

Earlier in the KingCo tournament, Mercer Island’s boys defeated Juanita, 74-47, and lost to Liberty, 58-45, on Feb. 4 and 6, respectively. In girls KingCo tourney action, MI beat Bellevue, 78-49, and lost to Lake Washington, 70-45, on Feb. 4 and 6, respectively.
