MIHS boys golf squad qualifies for state

Next up, state.

Mercer Island High School (MIHS) junior Alex Harwood placed first overall and the Islanders boys golf team qualified for state at the SeaKing 3A district 2 tournament on Oct. 28 at Druids Glen Golf Course in Covington.

MIHS finished second to team champ Bellevue, who won 291-293; Roosevelt finish third with a 295 score.

Harwood shot a 69, and was followed by Islander senior Jack Besecker in fourth (72), junior Yijoon Seo in 15th (75), sophomore Lucas Kornylo in 27th (77) and senior Ryan Jacobson in 47th (81).

The state championship is slated for May 20-21 at Creek at Qualchan Golf Course in Spokane.
