It’s game day for Mercer Island High School’s girls basketball team, which will face Eastside Catholic at 6:30 p.m. tonight in a 3A District 2 contest at Bellevue College. The Islanders downed West Seattle, 56-49, on Feb. 15 in a district opener at home. MI is seeded eighth and Eastside Catholic is the top seed. The winner advances to the semifinals on Feb. 20 and the loser has to fight its way through the loser’s bracket for a shot at state. The top six teams qualify for state, which takes place from Feb. 25-March 8 at the Tacoma Dome. MI placed third in the 3A KingCo tourney to advance to districts.
