MIHS grad helps Cal to rowing gold

Thomas Ehlers won gold with the University of California at Berkeley freshman 8 boat at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival on Nov. 1.

Thomas Ehlers, a 2009 Mercer Island High School graduate, recently helped the University of California at Berkeley freshman 8 boat to a gold medal at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival, held on Nov. 1 in California.

The weekend before, the team also took gold at the Head of the American race in Sacramento. Ehlers spent four years rowing with the Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing group in Seattle before joining the Berkeley team this fall.
