Plethora of locals to compete at track and field nationals

Eleven local athletes will compete at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships from July 25-30 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. The locals all advanced from regionals to compete in the nationals event in Eugene. The athletes compete for the Ford Sports Performance (FSP) and Mercer Island Bluebirds track and field clubs. They are, from left to right: Maia Shook (FSP) – shot put; Clara Shook (FSP) – 80-meter hurdles and 400 meters; Maya Kirtman (FSP)- 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump; Isaiah Kirtman (FSP)- 4×100 relay and 4×400 relay; Lauren Balousek (FSP) – 200 meters, 400 meters and 4×100 relay; Tanner Bloom (FSP) – 100 meters; Beau Berry (Bluebirds) – 800 meters and 1500 meters; and Zephyr Jordan (Bluebirds) – discus.
