Rodriguez wins 2,000-meter steeplechase at nationals

Mercer Island High School (MIHS) junior Victoria Rodriguez (pictured) won the girls 2,000-meter steeplechase at the Nike Outdoor Nationals on June 13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. She triumphed with a time of 6:42.53, and Team Kentucky Elite’s Tula Fawbush took second in 6:48.41. MIHS freshman Sophia Rodriguez placed sixth in the girls two-mile run (10:20.25) and ninth in the girls one-mile run (4:49.44). She was the top freshman finisher in each race.
